01 / THE WORK
Furniture is the heart of the workshop. From everyday dining chairs to older pieces worth preserving, the materials and construction should suit the way you use them.

FURNITURE UPHOLSTERY

DETAIL & FINISH
Shaped channels, patterned upholstery, and careful finishing bring the visible work together while keeping comfort and support at the center.

BENEATH THE SURFACE
Webbing, springs, and the way they are secured help form the foundation of a seat. That support deserves attention before padding and upholstery cover it.
Seating, upholstery, padding, and frame work informed by the piece's condition and your intended use.
Marine and commercial seating are considered individually. Limited automotive upholstery and repairs may also be a fit, depending on the job. Share the details so David can assess whether the work is within his experience and capabilities.
The next chapter: original furniture and craft goods developed around the same practical standards.

David Huttar · Craftsman & upholsterer
Huttar Craft Works grows out of more than a decade of hands-on upholstery and furniture work—thousands of upholstered pieces, hundreds of antiques, and seats built from scratch.
That experience shapes a straightforward philosophy: a piece should be comfortable, supportive, and durable. What happens beneath the covering matters just as much as what you see.
The business is growing toward original furniture and craft goods, bringing that experience into pieces designed from the beginning with a purpose.
“Our mission is to make useful, comfortable pieces with thoughtful construction—and give people clear information about the work, the materials, and the cost.”THE HUTTAR CRAFT WORKS STANDARD
03 / YOUR PROJECT
A photograph can show the style. It may not reveal the condition of the frame, support, or padding. Those details help explain why similar-looking jobs can have different prices.
Start with photographs, dimensions, its condition, and how you plan to use it. Include your location and any timing needs.
A cover replacement, a padding rebuild, and structural repairs are different jobs. Ask which work and materials the quote includes.
Confirm material choices, the estimated total, scheduling, payment timing, and any pickup, delivery, or shipping arrangements before committing.
Pattern complexity · Material quantity and grade · Padding and support · Frame condition · Stitching and finishing · Transport
A project quote is the place to confirm labor, materials, taxes, transport charges, and anything outside the agreed scope. No universal price or deposit amount applies to every piece.
PROJECT POLICIES
Project-specific amounts and arrangements are confirmed in writing before the work proceeds.
Furniture should remain with the customer until materials have been selected and the project is ready to proceed. Early pickup or drop-off may be accommodated when shop space allows. If materials or project decisions remain outstanding, any storage charges and their start date will be agreed upon before the furniture is accepted.
Storage is charged at $0.10 per cubic foot per day, with a minimum of $3 per day per piece, calculated using the piece’s overall outside dimensions. The applicable daily charge will be provided in writing.
If a project is delayed by outstanding customer decisions, approvals, or payments, storage charges may begin after seven calendar days’ written notice identifying what is needed to proceed. Completed furniture must be paid for and collected—or delivery arranged—within seven calendar days after notification that it is ready. Any later collection or delivery date must be agreed upon.
Storage charges do not apply during normal scheduled work, delays caused by Huttar Craft Works, or brief waits for materials already ordered. Charges may be reduced or waived at our discretion. Storage remains subject to available space and is not offered as an indefinite arrangement.
The full outstanding balance must be paid before furniture is released for pickup or delivery. Any installment financing must be arranged through a third-party provider. Huttar Craft Works does not offer direct installment payment plans. Available financing options and approval requirements are shown on your invoice.
